The Star: Canada’s only deaf theatre festival returns
SOUND OFF: Canada’s only deaf theatre festival returns with more performances
THE STAR EDMONTON
EDMONTON — The Latin origin of the word audience means ‘a group of listeners’ — however, Canada’s first and only national deaf theatre festival proves that audiences that are hard of hearing can still enjoy the theatre experience.
SOUND OFF: A Deaf Theatre Festival is returning to Edmonton for a third year with more performances and additional sign languages. It was started in Edmonton by local deaf performing artist and playwright Chris Dodd as a platform for deaf artists using American Sign Language (ASL) to come together, learn from each other and work alongside hearing artists to show off their performing skills.
